The political scandals washing across Washington have brought down one of the mighty:

Rep. Tom DeLay (R-Tex.) today abandoned his bid to remain House
majority leader, bowing to pressure from a growing number of fellow
House Republicans who wanted a permanent leadership change because of
his indictment on campaign finance charges.

Makes me think of this passage from the Tao Te Ching:

In yielding there is completion.
In
bent is straight.
In hollow is full.
In exhaustion is renewal.
In
little is contentment.
In much is confusion.

Do you think Delay has come to realize that struggling to hold on to power is futile?  That the only means to Integrity (the "Te" of Tao Te Ching, sometimes translated as "power") is by yielding, giving up and letting human affairs unfold as they will?   And now that he faces a difficult re-election race, do you think he will now realize that "In little is contentment/In much is confusion," and just resign from office and go back to killing bugs?

Nah… neither do I.  But it is fun to dream.
