Blog silence for the past week has been caused by the crazy culmination of rehearsals and the first performances of Our Town.  It has been, to say the least, exhilarating and highly instructive.  I've been a bit coy up to this point in revealing where and with whom I have been doing all of this – I was not sure if blogging about it would be comfortable for my colleagues while we were in rehearsal. But I will come out now and say that it is (unsurprisingly for those who know where I live and work) a production of the Williamstown Theater Festival.  The cast is extraordinary, with veteran actors of the highest accomplishment intermingling with young performers of remarkable energy and creativity.  The Festival blogs it here.

We opened on Thursday night, after two previews, and the audiences have been large and positive.  We run until August 8th, in what will be, most likely, a fleeting ten days or so.

But the thing I want to leave here is a short interview with our director, Nicholas Martin.  He has been incredibly gracious and generous to me, and I have come to know how and why professional actors love working with him so much.  He is an actor's director, creating a happy and supportive and, ultimately, unusually productive working environment.  Bravo Nicky!
