I am a bit off my posting schedule because this weekend I took what I thought would be a one-night trip to New York City with my daughter to see a show. And we ran into an epic snow storm. One report said 27 inches fell in Central Park. Where we were, in Midtown, it was quite deep. When we went into the show, The Light in the Piazza, on Saturday night (an incredible show: more on which later), the storm had just started. When we woke up on Sunday morning, a thick blanket covered everything. It was great; reminded me of the blizzard of ’78 (or was it ’77), although this one is said to be even bigger than the past.
I was ready to try to make my way back to Western Massachusetts on Sunday, but my wife prevailed upon me, so we stayed another night. In the event, we trudged over to Times Square and bought discount tickets for The Producers. Two shows in one weekend! I have never done that before.
It was fun all around, certainly something for my daughter to remember: it was her 12th birthday. And, yes, we did see a couple of people cross country skiing on Broadway; rather like this:
